as many of you are aware being brought up in the organisation, there was a general directive from the wt that secular education was good, but not encouraged as far as university and further education was concerned.

many witnesses left school in the 70s with no formal qualifications.

my question therefore is 2 fold.. 1. what would you have liked to become as far as your career is concerned?.

I took up window cleaning in 1973 so that i would be free to spend more time in the preaching work. I thought,this will do me until 1975.

Well here i am 33 tears later still polishing the glass. Do i have regrets?, no . I am my own Boss and i work when and as hard as i want to. I have raised my three sons and dont owe anyone a bean.During a recent hot spell i finished early,came home and enjoyed a glass of wine while cooling off in our overground Pool.

My job has brought me into contact with some wonderful people,in fact in a few weeks me and my wife are going away with two of my long-time customers who are celebrating thier 30th Wedding anniversary.They have invited us as thier guests for the weekend.

Dont get bitter.....have a guiness instead.

in my case, i was very generous with those in need in the congregation, because i had a good job, but when i lost that good job, no one gave me a helping hand.

they just didn't care about my financial well being.. also the years went by and it was as if we were getting further and further away from what they previously prophetized.

Yes i am fortunate in that me my wife and three sons survived the trauma of breaking free from the Watchtower.

Thinking back to the time my wife told me that she no longer wanted to be a witness,she added that "she just wanted to live a normal life,even if just for a week,if Jehovah then destroyed her, then so be it".

Even now after all these years it feels good to be free from bondage to men. My heart though does go out to those who have lost thier loved ones and to those who are it seems permanently scarred as a result of thier time in the Watchtower.

Some spiritual paradise..what!

These days waking up is more of a process,i lie there thinking "where am i,why cant i move?".Then i get a dig in the ribs and my wife demands her morning cuppa.Suddenly....wide awake.

Some years ago,shortly after out third child was born[he came late because of 1975] my wfe and i were enjoying a romantic moment atop a mountain in Wales.She said she had something important to tell me......i waited for the sweetnothings......"come on,hit me baby". What she then said awoke me from my watchtower slumber and changed our lives for ever.

She said "I no longer want to be a Jehovahs witness,and i am not going to the Kingdom Hall again"

Well she certainly got my attention and that started the process wherby i began to question the Watchtower.My wife was a good witness,a wonderful wife and mother,and if Jehovah was "soon" going to destroy her simply because she no longer believed the watchtower then i had better be very sure that what i believed was correct.

Yes it was painful and we went through very difficult times but it was worth it. Here we are all these years later still having romantic moments on top of mountains[okay i made that bit up] free from slavery to men,and secure in our faith in God.

The Best I've Heard Yet

tonight i had a call from one of my daughters (16) who is not a jw.

she wanted to borrow some money.

so she could go and attend a funeral.

Many years ago my father took seriously ill.It looked as though he might not make it. I remember sitting with my mother in the hospital and she asked me if i would attend my fathers funeral should he die.You see,my parents were Roman Catholics and i was a robotic Witness.

I still cant believe that i looked her in the eye and said that there was no way i would go into a catholic church.She burst into tears as she could not understand how i could be so cold hearted. It gives me the creeps thinking about it now.

Anyway my dad did not die and when he did pass away many years later, i had,by then, been set free fom Watchtower bondage. I was asked to speak at his funeral and was proud to do so. Same with my mothers funeral.

wow, this one really got my attention.

gordon, and ej-jw from across the pond has broadcast his email which is an unequivicating diatribe and prediction of doom for the brooklyn bethel complex on or near the beast day : 6-6-06. well here's his email in it's entirety, feedback is welcome.

i heard the fbi showed up to question him when he visited nyc recently to deliver a warning message to brooklyn headquarters.

The guy is well known over here.No doubt that when 7-6-06 arrives he will receive new light and carry on being a fruit-cake.

I look At the Forum now and again,But dont do much posting. I am a luddite as far as computers go.

These days i just about manage a few houses a day.I am getting too old. My ex window cleaning partner,who also thought that the end was due in 1975 was still at it until he sadly died a couple of years ago.Yes we are part of the great army of theocratic window cleaners.

As i sit here looking out the window at the snowflakes and contemplating whether to go to work, i cant help but wonder,"why am i still doing this job?" .I work as a Visual Optic Technician,otherwise known as a window cleaner.

You see,i started cleaning windows for a living back in 1973.Me and another witness wanted to spend more time spreading the so-called good news, before the "end" came in 1975. A couple of years doing this will be fine,we thought. Well since those boys in Brooklyn postponed Armageddon for a few years here i am still polishing the glass.

The good news is that i really enjoy my job. It does have its "ups and down" and sometimes its a bit of a "pane",but at least i am still going up in the world.

I meet many interesting people,i have the freedom of being self-employed,i can go on holiday whenever i choose and right now i am taking my wonderful wife of 35 years out for breakfast.

On the Watchtower front.We were set free in the early eighties and decided it was better to trust God rather than a bunch of old boys in Brooklyn.Come on,of all the wonderful places in the world,would God set up his headquarters in Brooklyn?.

So whatever you are doing today,be happy and have a nice day.

As i read the above i found that i was getting so angry. My concern is for those who look to this book as a means of getting help with thier addiction.

What happens when they realise that its mainly fiction?.That will do a lot for thier recovery.

I tend to take all these accounts with a pinch of salt.Having once fallen for the fiction of the Watchtower its a case of once bitten twice shy.
